What We Offer

Skilled Nursing Care

Medical Care That Comes to You — Delivered by Nurses Who Know the Difference

There is a difference between a nurse who performs a task and a nurse who truly understands what it means to care for someone at home — in their environment, on their schedule, within the rhythms of their daily life.

At WeCare Private Duty Services, that difference has been our standard since 1995.

Our Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses are licensed through the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) and bring clinical skill sets that go well beyond what most home care agencies offer. When your loved one’s needs require more than help with daily activities — when they need real medical oversight, hands-on clinical care, and a nurse who will coordinate directly with their physician — WeCare’s Skilled Nursing team is who families in the throughout Maryland call.

Founded by an RN. Built on 30 years of Real Patient Care.

WeCare was founded in 1995 by Geraldine Diggs — a former caregiver whose reputation for exceptional private duty care was well established long before she launched the agency.

While caring for the granddaughter of President Theodore Roosevelt, Geraldine was encouraged by the family to turn her approach to caregiving into something larger — an agency that could bring the same standard of care to families across Maryland who needed it most. That conversation became WeCare.

As Founder and CEO, Geraldine Diggs speaks to what that origin means for the agency today:

“Almost 31 years ago, while taking care of the granddaughter of President Theodore Roosevelt, I was encouraged to pursue my dream of establishing a premier in-home private duty organization that provided the highest quality of care. Our foundation of solid work ethics, sound principles and hands-on experience has resulted in the company’s growth. I’m proud to say that the community recognizes WeCare for providing extraordinary care that is unmatched in the home care industry.”

That founding story matters because it reflects something real about how WeCare operates: our clinical standards were set by a nurse, and they have been upheld by nurses for three decades.

What Our Skilled Nursing Services Include

Every Skilled Nursing caregiver on the WeCare registry has met licensure requirements that go beyond standard certification — they hold an active Maryland Board of Nursing license, which means they are qualified to perform clinical procedures, administer medications, and manage complex medical conditions that non-licensed caregivers cannot legally or safely address.

Our skilled nurses provide:

  • Diabetes Management: blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, and coordination with your endocrinologist or primary care physician on care plan compliance
  • Wound Care: assessment, dressing changes, and infection monitoring for post-surgical wounds, pressure injuries, and chronic conditions
  • Medication Management and Infusions: proper administration, timing, and documentation of medications including IV and infusion therapies
  • Tracheostomy Care: suctioning, cleaning, and routine monitoring for clients who require airway management at home
  • Ostomy Care: pouching system management, skin barrier maintenance, and client/family education
  • Gastric and Jejunum Tube Care: feeding tube management, site care, and monitoring for complications
  • Injections: subcutaneous and intramuscular injections administered safely and on schedule
  • Intermittent Catheterization: sterile technique catheterization for clients with urinary retention needs
  • Equipment and Oxygen Use: management and monitoring of home medical equipment including oxygen delivery systems
  • Patient Advocacy: coordinating communication between clients, families, and medical providers to ensure your loved one’s needs and preferences are heard and respected

Each of these services is delivered within the context of a care plan developed in coordination with your loved one’s existing medical team — because we understand that skilled nursing at home works best when it is an extension of the physician’s plan, not a substitute for it.
