Caregiver Screening,
Professional Development and Training

Caregiver Screening

Since 1995, our staff and Registry Caregivers have developed a partnership to ensure our clients and their families will benefit from over twenty years of our commitment to service excellence.

The WeCare Registry, consisting of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Geriatric Nursing Assistants (GNAs) works to provide in-home care that offers the best in compassionate professionalism for our clients and their families.

WeCare Screening

Understanding that the client/Caregiver relationship must be one of respect, compassion and confidentiality, we require each Caregiver to complete an extensive screening process with our Registered Nurses and internal staff subsequent to graduation from an accredited training program.

They must also pass a:

  • State and Federal Criminal Background Check
  • Drug Screening
  • Skills Competency Test
  • Driving Record Check
  • Physical Examination

Caregiver Professional Development and Training

Ongoing training and career development is a major part of continuing the professional growth of Caregivers
on the Registry.

Our quarterly In-Service training, provided by local and national experts, focuses on Information, Education and Inspiration. Workshops and presentations in clinical care and client relations promote skills development and increased proficiency in dealing with the special needs of our clients.

Presenters include specialists from the American Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer’s Association, State and Local Departments on Aging, Gilchrist Hospice Care, area Hospitals and Community Colleges and the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Our In-Service training sessions have featured presentations including,

  • Alzheimer’s and Dementia
  • Diabetes
  • Elder Abuse
  • Hospice and End of Life Care
  • Medication Reminders and Cueing
  • Nutrition
  • Cultural Sensitivity
  • Stress Management
  • Customer Service Skills

In addition, annual skills assessments provided by our nursing staff ensure Caregivers fulfill our Mission to maintain and demonstrate optimal technical proficiency.

We also seek to inspire our Caregivers by featuring motivational speakers and inviting past Caregivers and employees to relate their personal journeys of success.
