How do I select a home health provider/agency? As with selecting any healthcare provider, patients and families are encouraged to ask questions which will enable them to make an informed decision based on their specific needs. Some of these questions are:

How long has the provider/agency been serving the community?

How does the provider/agency select its caregivers and office staff? Are they certified, bonded and insured?

Are the client and his or her family members involved in developing the plan of care? Who at the agency oversees changes in the plan of care?

Is the client’s daily care plan documented? How does the agency handle client confidentiality?

Is the provider/agency available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and on holidays? How are emergencies handled?
